SAID Open Houses News Release
The Saskatchewan Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Saskatchewan Voice of People With Disabilities have scheduled two open houses designed to help people complete SAID application packages in Regina. The open houses will both take place at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind auditorium located at 2250 Broad Street. The first open house will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The second open house will take place on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. All persons who have received a SAID application package are welcome to attend the sessions. We are also seeking volunteers in the community who can assist others with filling out the package.
The SAID program, designed in collaboration with members of the disability community, provides an income for persons with significant and long-term disabilities separate from the Saskatchewan Assistance Program (SAP). Beginning June 2012, SAID will be expanded to include people who are living independently. Individuals currently receiving a disability benefit through the Saskatchewan Assistance Program (SAP) are being invited to apply for SAID. Application packages that include a disability impact assessment are being mailed through the month of March. Completed applications will be reviewed to determine whether the applicant is eligible for SAID.
